Our Doctor of Audiology

Theresa H. Bartlett, Au.D.

Doctor of Audiology

The most important part of my job is listening to my patients – making sure they feel heard. Because while many people with hearing impairments want to improve their hearing many do not. My job is to provide my patients with the resources they need to make decisions that contain the best solutions for them. Whether that”s through counseling, a hearing aid, or something else. It all depends on the individual.

A Norfolk native, Dr. Theresa Bartlett earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, her Master”s Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences on scholarship from the University of Southern Mississippi, and her Doctorate in Audiology from the Arizona School of Health Sciences, part of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a graduate externship at The Shea Clinic and Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee, and her professional internship in Richmond, Virginia, at the Balance and Ear Center.

In 1994, Dr. Bartlett returned to the Tidewater area as an audiologist with Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she provided services at both The Hearing and Balance Center at DePaul Hospital as well as the Children”s Hospital of the King”s Daughters. In 2003, Dr. Bartlett opened her first private practice which later evolved into her current practice, Virginia Hearing Consultants. Private practice is important to Dr. Bartlett because it allows her the opportunity to provide the highest standards of hearing healthcare to those who need it the most.
